- Why was the WMSM 2025 in India cancelled?
The decision to cancel the meeting was made jointly by ISSM and SASSM after careful consideration of the evolving geopolitical situation in the region and its impact on delegate attendance and sponsor support. Unfortunately, this meant we could no longer ensure a successful and inclusive meeting. - Will the WMSM 2025 be rescheduled or moved to another location?
No, the WMSM 2025 will not be rescheduled or relocated. The next World Meeting on Sexual Medicine will take place in Porto, Portugal in 2026. - Will there be a virtual alternative or any online content made available?
No, there will be no virtual or online alternative for the cancelled WMSM 2025. - Will ISSM or SASSM organize a different regional meeting in 2025 instead?
No, there are no other regional meetings planned by ISSM or SASSM to replace the WMSM 2025. - When will I receive my registration refund?
All registered participants will receive a full refund of their registration fees. Refunds will be processed over the coming month, and you will receive a separate notification once your refund has been issued. - Will I be reimbursed for any bank or transfer fees related to my registration refund?
Yes, ISSM will cover any bank or transfer fees associated with the refund. - Will ISSM or SASSM reimburse my flight or hotel costs?
We completely understand your concern, especially if you’ve already booked your travel and are now facing difficulties with cancelling or getting a refund.
As part of the registration process, we did include in the terms and conditions that participants are strongly advised to arrange their own travel and cancellation insurance, exactly for situations like this. Unfortunately, we’re not in a position to reimburse travel expenses directly.
That said, we’re more than happy to help by providing you with an official cancellation letter, which you can submit to your insurance provider to support your claim, especially if you’ve already tried cancelling or changing with the airline without success.

- What will happen with my submitted abstract?
All submitted abstracts will be withdrawn from the WMSM 2025 program. Authors are free to submit their work elsewhere.
While WMSM 2025 will no longer proceed, we are pleased to invite you to submit your abstract for WMSM 2026, taking place in Porto, Portugal, from February 25–28, 2026. The abstract submission portal is now open, and the deadline is October 25, 2025. You can find all the relevant information and submission guidelines here: https://www.issmessm2026.org/abstracts/. - Can I still present my abstract or poster virtually?
No, there will be no virtual presentations or sessions for WMSM 2025.
- Will accepted faculty still be considered for future meetings?
Yes, ISSM and SASSM will keep all accepted faculty in mind for future meetings. We appreciate your contributions and understanding. - I was scheduled to chair or moderate a session – what happens with that role?
As the meeting is cancelled in full, your assigned role will no longer take place. However, we value your involvement and will consider your contribution for future meetings.
- Will sponsors and exhibitors receive a full refund?
Yes, all confirmed sponsors and exhibitors will receive a full refund. Our team will reach out directly with more information. - Can our sponsorship or exhibitor package be transferred to the next ISSM meeting?
No, sponsorships for WMSM 2025 cannot be automatically transferred to future meetings. However, opportunities for the 2026 meeting in Porto will be shared in due time. - How can I stay informed about ISSM’s upcoming meetings and opportunities?
